Death Owns a Merry Laugh

No one knows the thoughts in this head,
When it was I began to romance the dead.
Each corpse met is lovelier than the last,
Through my hands their mortality is cast.

My need is nurtured, more laughter in this world.

Devil in a Tailcoat

"Yes my Lord," the words roll off my tongue with ease.
In anyone's eyes I am a humble servant wanting to please.
Together we've created an impenetrable shell,
No one would believe when this ends I'll drag you to hell.

Enduring any and all humiliation,
I follow your commands with out protestation.
Together we're rising to the task,
Come now Lord, let's put on our masks.

I'll groom you, I'll guide you, I'll guard you,
But nothing is honorable in what I do.
Yours is the pure soul which must remain,
Something everyone seems too eager to obtain.

Time continues to ebb and flow
Not soon before long my efforts will show.
Watching from the shadows with arrogance and greed,
Not soon before long you'll fill my sinister need.

Well, it's been a hell of a long time since I've submitted any literature to deviantart.com... and even then anything I've had up here before I've taken down. However, since I don't ever intend to make profit from this piece I figure why not.

I got the idea for this after finishing a persona poem project in my first year poetry class at university this year… I chose to write on the devil, and well Sebastian just fell into place after the fact. This poem is essentially strictly based on his manga persona if anything, and very much on his demonic side. I’d like to THINK it’s in character, but we’ll see I suppose.

Awww, well thank you so much! I do plan to write more I hope... The next Black Butler poem I do will likely be a portrait poem for the Undertaker, but I am unsure. It'll definitely be over the holidays and after my last university final on Dec. 14th that's for sure. However, I've really been entrapped by this desire of mine to create wonderful poetry, so the fact that it is being generally well received boosts my spirits and confidence ^_^
